Argyle’s only home game during pre-season ended in a 2-1 win against a Reading under-21 team at Home Park.

It was another encouraging fitness workout for the Greens as the pre-season programme steadily increases in the lead up to the new season.

The first half finished 0-0 after both teams missed a penalty, Argyle striker Jake Jervis had his spot-kick saved while Craig Tanner for Reading hit the post.

Graham Carey gave Argyle the lead in the 52nd minute with a fantastic shot but Lisandro Semedo equalised for Reading.
Second half substitution Reuben Reid scored the winner in the 87th minute with a smart turn.

New signing Harim Boateng impressed in midfield as did Carey and Jervis and Gregg Wylde.

The home dug-out has now been moved towards the Barn Park End of the stadium, presumably so that manager Derek Adams and his coaching staff can have some influence of the linesmen who operate in that half of the pitch for league games. A smart move.

The low attendance of 1,485 was to be expected.

Argyle: McCormick, Mellor, Nelson, Hartley, Sawyer, Simpson (Purrington 81), Boateng (Lane 90), Carey (Hall 90), Jervis (Rooney 88), Brunt (Reid h/t), Wylde (Cox 77).
