Plymouth Argyle have begun a search for a Director of Football to assist manager Carl Fletcher.

Flecther has been under pressure following a run of results that has seen the Pilgrims win just one point from seven league games and drop to within one point of the relegation zone in League Two. The Greens also crashed out of the FA Cup following a 1-0 defeat against Conference South side Dorchester Town.

Last season John Deehan held the role of Director of Football at Home Park and there was an improvement in the results; it’s not clear whether Deehan will return although other names in the frame include Gary Megson and John Ward.

Fletcher’s inexperience as a manager has been very evident this season, particularly during games where he has often been outwitted by the opposition manager. It is hoped the new Director of Football will have a seat in the dugout and have a big influence during matches.

This new move will please some fans but infuriate other members of the Green Army who wanted a complete change of manager.

  • MATTENG says:

Think it’ll help if we get right person & they can find some players with quality. Then Fletch can concentrate on getting us some more points on the board.
