Argyle have signed former Crawley Town central midfielder Josh Simpson.

The 28-year old has signed a one-year contract and becomes the fifth signing for new manager Derek Adams.

Simpson has played for Cambridge, both City and United, Histon – where he scored 16 goals in two seasons, Peterborough and a loan spell at Southend United.

More recently Simpson played for Crawley who signed him in January 2011. He helped Crawley secure promotion to the Football League followed by a successive promotion to League One.
Simpson picked up an injury last season and missed most of the relegation campaign and became a free agent after rejecting a new contract at Crawley.

Simpson looks another good signing with an excellent pedigree.

Each of the five new signings made by Adams have agreed to a one-year contract meaning the entire Argyle squad all have contracts that expire in June 2016.

Welcome aboard the good ship Mayflower, Josh!
