New Argyle manager John Sheridan has made his second signing by snapping up centre-back Guy Branston.

The 34-year old defender returns to Home Park after enjoying a loan stint at Argyle during the 1998-1999 season, playing in the same team as Paul Wotton. He has signed a deal until the end of this season.

Branston signed for Aldershot in the summer last year but only played five games before joining Bristol Rovers on loan in November; he had his contract at Aldershot cancelled by mutual consent last week.

Branston is a dominant centre-back who has plied his trade in the lower leagues for years playing for 20 clubs, including moving on loan 15 times during his career.

With Darren Purse signing for Port Vale last week Branston will be the perfect replacement and just what a struggling Argyle team need.

Welcome back on board the good ship Mayflower, Guy!
