Buzzing Again!

It’s good to be a Plymouth Argyle fan again!

After five years of misery we are finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.
During those awful five years we witnessed two relegations, three battles against relegation, our best players were sold and the club entered into administration with the real threat that it could have gone out of business.

We haven’t won our latest fight against relegation just yet but the signs are looking good and we should see League Two football at Home Park againa next season.
There is an air of excitement around the club at the moment, the fans have fallen back in love with PAFC and everyone is buzzing and that is due to the club owner James Brent, manager John Sheridan and the players.
Given the complete disaster of the last five years it’s fair to say the last two months have been a joy and a pleasure by our standards.

Sheridan arrived as the new boss in January when the club was on its knees, we were in real danger of being relegated to the Conference league for the first time in our history and we had just been beaten 4-0 by Port Vale. We were on a life support machine.

Sheridan got a win in his first game as most new managers do; so would this be a false dawn?
Fifteen games and 25 points later Sheridan’s record of saving a sinking ship has been sensational!
Seven wins, four draws and only four defeats with six clean sheets have all come during those 15 games and now just one win from the remaining four games of the season will be enough to get the Greens across the finishing line.

If Sheridan’s record was based over a full season Argyle would finish comfortably in a play-off place, indeed Argyle’s current form has been better than most of the teams currently near the top of League Two.

The players also deserve a lot of credit for fighting for the Green cause and Sheridan’s experienced eye for a player has given us excellent signings in Guy Branston, Reuben Reid, Anthony Charles, Lee Cox, Joe Bryan and top scorer Jason Banton.
The style of play has evolved under Sheridan, starting with a needs-must long-ball game and concluding with an attractive attacking style in the last win against Cheltenham.

Argyle owner James Brent, who has missed just three games all season, has provided calm and assured leadership and will construct a £10 million grandstand free of charge with work scheduled to start this summer.
The new grandstand was part of the deal when James took over the club in October 2011 with the football club not having to pay a penny.
Things really are looking up on and off the pitch!

The match at Burton on Saturday will see over 1,000 members of the Green Army arrive at the Pirelli Stadium thanks to the generous sponsorship from First European Securities/First International Lending.
FES/FIL have provided a fleet of coaches plus a minibus to transport fans from Cornwall and Plymouth with a train from London also making its way to Burton.
The fans have responded to the free offer and booked their places to ensure they support the team at Burton.

The feel-good factor has returned to Home Park, the Green Army is buzzing again!
