Goals from Argyle’s Paul Wotton and David Norris sealed the points for the Pilgrims in a gritty Boxing Day game, with Cardiff’s Darren Purse sent off for fouling Nick Chadwick.

Norris had the first real chance but his shot was saved by the Cardiff keeper Neil Alexander, a Mickey Evans flick on set up Tony Capaldi but his shot was blocked.
Argyle were now dominating the opening exchanges but slowly Cardiff were coming more into the game as Michael Ricketts headed over the bar following a corner.

Cardiff played better in the second half and put the Plymouth defence under growing pressure but against the run of play Plymouth were awarded a penalty when Chadwick was pulled back by Purse when clean through on goal. A red card followed for Purse and Plymouth captain Paul Wotton stepped up to fire wide of the keeper’s right.
Ten man Cardiff responded with Ricketts sending a header just wide and a Jason Koumas free kick went inches wide of Romain Larrieu’s post.
The in the 80th minute disaster for the Welsh side as Plymouth fashioned a good move down the right with Evans setting up midfielder Norris to fire home.
Two nil to the Devon side and game over.
A second away win of the season for Plymouth with defenders Elliott Ward and Matthias Doumbe having good games at the back but striker Mickey Evans gave another masterclass display up front as he again led the line superbly.
