Plymouth Argyle defender Paul Connolly has made it into the Championship team of the week.

The 23-year old right back is having a fine season, helping Argyle up to 7th spot in the Championship and his performance against Burnley last Saturday has been rewarded with a place in the Championship team of the week as voted for by the Press Association.

Connolly has missed just one game this season and that was through injury after kicking an advertising hoarding in frustration during the game against Queens Park Rangers. This caused Connolly to miss the following game against Cardiff City which didn’t please Plymouth manager Ian Holloway who said in typical comic fashion: ‘Connolly kicked the hoardings and by doing that he has shunted his big toe. He has had a problem with a slight bunion and that has inflamed. I am not very happy at all because it is self-inflicted. What a complete chicken nugget with double barbecue sauce he is.’

The goalkeeper for team of the week is, not surprisingly, Burnley’s Brian Jensen.
The Burnley custodian was equal to everything that Argyle could throw at him as he made a string of excellent saves to thwart the Pilgrims and rescue a point for Burnley.

The Championship team of the week:

Brian Jensen: Burnley.
Paul Connolly: Plymouth Argyle.
Leon Barnett: Luton Town.
Alex Bruce: Ipswich Town.
John Hills: Sheffield Wednesday.
Carlos Edwards: Luton Town.
Sylvain Legwinski: Ipswich Town.
Simon Whaley: Preston North End.
Gary McSheffrey: Birmingham City.
Rowan Vine: Luton Town.
Danielle Dichio: Preston North End.
