Two years ago today Derek Adams was named as the new manager of Plymouth Argyle.

It was the 11th June 2015 when Adams took over at Home Park after “ticking the boxes” in the checklist criteria set by the Argyle board of directors and it`s fair to say Adams` appointment has been a fantastic success.

During his time at Argyle Adams has gained a 53.7% win ratio in league games, only beaten in the history of the club by Rollo Jack in 1939-1940 with a 56.0% win ratio, although Jack was manager for just 25 games.

In modern times the only manager to come close to the win ratio set by Adams is Paul Sturrock, who during his first spell at Home Park  achieved a 50.3% win rate.

During his first season as Argyle manager Adams steered the Greens to fifth place in League Two and a subsequent trip to Wembley stadium for the play-off final. Unfortunately we lost against AFC Wimbledon but Adams came back stronger the following season by completely changing his team to win automatic promotion, Argyle finished in second place and only missed out on the League Two title on goal difference.

We now look forward to a new season in League One and are hopeful that Adams can repeat the success and win ratio of his first two years.

With thanks to Greens on Screen.
