Former Plymouth Argyle midfielder Keith Lasley is hoping to complete a move to League One side Blackpool.

Lasley joined Blackpool on loan from Plymouth in January but struggled with injuries, making only 8 appearances but manager Simon Grayson was impressed enough to want Lasley to return to Bloomfield Road in time for next season.
Grayson, who recently returned from a holiday in Portugal, said: ‘When Keith was fit he did well and he is a player I would like to have here next season.”

Talks are currently taking place to make Lasley a permanent fixture at Blackpool, with the 26-year old midfielder hoping to get a decision soon, Lasley said: “Nothing has been decided as yet but there are discussions going on between my agent and the club. Hopefully we will reach a decision pretty soon.’

Blackpool should be a force to be reckoned with next season following the recent take over of the club by Valery Belokon, the Latvian millionaire, who has pledged to supply the funds to enable Blackpool to win promotion to the Championship and then to the Premiership. Speaking just after the take over was confirmed, Belokon said: ‘I feel very proud to be the president of such a wonderful football club with such a prestigious history and tradition.
‘It is my firm ambition to see Blackpool Football Club in the Premier League, which is why I will invest heavily in the club.
‘I wish to make a total commitment to Blackpool Football Club and I am confident that we will achieve promotion to the championship and eventually play in the Premier League.’

Lasley was signed for Plymouth in 2004 from Scottish club Motherwell but struggled to make an impact on the first team, making a total of 29 league appearances of which 15 were as a substitute. Lasley was not offered a new contract by Plymouth at the end of the 2005-2006 season and was released.

Good luck to Lasley, I quite liked him but two successive managers never gave him a chance.
Blackpool could do a “Wigan” and rise up to the Premiership backed by a millionaire.
