Plymouth Argyle striker Jamie Mackie has been linked with a £1 million move to Championship rivals Derby County.

A national newspaper has reported that Rams boss Nigel Clough is on the trail of Mackie as a replacement for Kris Commons who is expected to leave Pride Park in January.

The reported £1 million fee for Mackie would represent a huge profit for the Pilgrims who snapped up the striker from non-league Exeter City for £145,000 in January 2008.

The 24-year old, who can also play as a winger, has notched up 11 goals from 73 appearances for Paul Sturrock’s side.
