Argyle and Doncaster Rovers are masters of the single goal win in League Two.

This season the League Two pacesetters have each won 10 games with a single goal margin, the most in the league and only bettered in all four divisions by four clubs in the Championship.

Huddersfield Town have won an incredible 15 games with a one goal margin, followed by Reading (13) and Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday winning 11 games each by just one goal.
Sheffield United in League One match Argyle and Doncaster with 10 single goal wins and in the Premier League only Chelsea and Manchester City come close to the Greens with seven wins by a single goal margin, although both have played four league games less than the Pilgrims.

In League Two promotion rivals Carlisle and Wycombe have nudged ahead in nine games to win by one goal while Argyle’s opponents on Saturday, Exeter City, have won just four games by a single goal advantage.

Argyle, who have played one game less than Doncaster, have recorded four 1-0 wins and six 2-1 wins – the highest amount of 2-1 wins in League Two. Derek Adams’ team are yet to notch up a 3-2 or even a 4-3 win.

The statistics highlight the resilience and determination of the Argyle team to grab a slender lead and hold on to that one goal advantage until the final whistle, the recent 1-0 win against Cambridge United perfectly illustrates the point.
On their day the Argyle players are hard to break down and are experts in protecting a single goal lead.
