Sturrock Linked With Aberdeen Job

Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock has been linked with the vacant managerial position at Aberdeen.

The Scottish Premier League side yesterday sensationally sacked manager Jimmy Calderwood despite a dramatic 2-1 victory against Hibs which saw Aberdeen finish fourth in the SPL and qualify for Europe.
Calderwood’s assistants Jimmy Nicholl and reserve coach Sandy Clark were also sacked.

Sources in Scotland have speculated that Sturrock could take over from Calderwood, although at this stage Motherwell manager Mark McGhee is the favourite to become the Dons next manager with Wigan assistant manager Eric Black also being linked with the job.

Sturrock has come under increasing pressure from Argyle fans after a poor season that saw the Pilgrims narrowly escape relegation from the Championship, so a move back to the Scottish Premier League might appeal to Sturrock, especially with Aberdeen playing in the new Europa League next season.
Sturrock has previously managed Scottish sides St. Johnstone and Dundee United.

However, Sturrock has started to plan for next season at Home Park and develop some long-term strategies so it’s highly doubtful he would leave Argyle.
