Manager Tony Pulis said about the 1-1 draw with QPR ‘We got a smashing goal but in the second half we got nervous and dropped deeper and deeper. They’ve got Furlong and Nygaard up front and put a lot of balls into the box. We needed to keep the ball and take the steam out of the game. We’ve got the players to do that – players that can pass the ball and make chances.’

We may have only lost just one game in five, but Pulis is still looking for players: ‘We are looking for loan signings. You look at the players QPR were able to bring off the bench and that shows the difficulty facing us.’

Akos Buzsaky thought his 30 yard wonder goal had set the team up to take all three points from QPR only for a Kevin Gallen second-half penalty drew the sides level at 1-1.

Pulis says Plymouth are looking at the way they travel to games as they want to come up with the best way for the players to prepare for a game. Has Abramovich not got a spare plane to lend us? Come to that, has he a player or two as well!? ‘We’re seeing how we cope with different ideas before we decide which strategy we’ll take. By the time we got up there on Monday, it was 2.30pm. Then we trained at about 3pm. That’s all your day gone.’

Former manager and current Owls boss Paul Sturrock says ‘Plymouth’s home form has been their life-saver over the years and it definitely will be again this year.’

Port Vale are looking at making an official complaint to the FA saying two of their players were illegally approached by Plymouth. Pullis says Plymouth have done nothing wrong in attempting to sign Billy Paynter and Sam Collins.
