Argyle continued their pre-season schedule with a 1-0 win away to Devon neighbours Torquay United on Tuesday.

Midfielder Graham Carey scored the winner with a long range 86th minute free-kick with the bonus of the team keeping their first clean sheet of the summer.

New manager Derek Adams again adopted a fluid 4-3-3 formation which allows the three midfielders the freedom to roam while upfront Reuben Reid was flanked by Jake Jervis and Gregg Wylde.

The National League side named former Pilgrims Luke Young and trialist Jamie Richards in their squad although only the former saw any action.

New signings Carey and Harim Boateng once again impressed for the Greens in midfield while Reid completed a full 90 minutes following summer surgery for a long standing injury.

McCormick, Mellor, Nelson, Hartley (McHugh 61), Sawyer, Cox, Carey, Boateng, Jervis, (Rooney 87), Reid, Wylde (Harvey 75).

Attendance: 1,789 (810 away).
