Plymouth Argyle captain Simon Walton has signed a one-year contract extension.

The rebuilding for next season has already begun with the excellent news that Walton has agreed to stay at Home Park for another 12 months.

Walton has had a chequered career so far, playing for 10 clubs and picking up several injuries and was an avid collector of red cards, however, this season the midfielder has settled down and was made skipper in September when Carl Fletcher took over as manager of Argyle.

Walton, who went unpaid for several months while the Pilgrims’ were in administration, led a young and inexperienced team during the early part of the season, despite being aged just 24 himself!

Not only is Walton Argyle’s top scorer this season, he’s also played the most games and never been sent off.
The biggest attribute for Walton, like several Argyle players this season, is that he really cares about PAFC, a rarity in the modern game of football.

Here’s to a successful campaign next season with Walton leading the way.
