Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has joined Plymouth Argyle in the race to sign Bournemouth’s £800,000 rated striker Brett Pitman.

Argyle are one of a number of clubs interested in signing the 21-year old striker and have already made one enquiry but may have been put off by the asking price.

Holloway, the former Argyle boss, is now understood to be ready to make a bid for Pitman who took his goal tally to 15 last Saturday and is ranked as one of the hottest properties in League Two.
Blackpool are just two points away from the play-off places in the Championship and Holloway has been given the green light to bolster his squad ready for a promotion push.

Argyle could fund the Pitman transfer from the proceeds of Jamie Mackie’s proposed sale, the Pilgrims striker has been linked with several clubs including Middlesbrough, Burnley, Derby County and Nottingham Forest.
