Jim Paterson has cut short his loan spell at Aberdeen and returned to Plymouth Argyle.

The 30-year old left-sided player has picked up an Achilles injury and is returning to Home Park for further diagnosis and treatment.

Paterson was injured in the game against Dundee United two weeks ago and it was thought the injury would clear up but Paterson has not responded to treatment and returns to his parent club for further examination.

It’s possible that Paterson will not play again this season.
Dons boss Mark McGhee said: ‘Paterson is going back to Plymouth. It looks as though he could take several weeks to recover and I do not even know if he will be able to play for us again this season.
‘He will go back there and they will be able to take care of him and, hopefully, get to the bottom of his injury.’

Paterson moved to Pittodrie in January on a season-long loan, making nine appearances but has never featured on a winning side for Aberdeen.
