Plymouth returned to Molineux following their Championship game a week earlier but this time Plymouth took on Wolves in an FA cup game.
Wolves won the encounter 1-0 thanks to Leon Clarke’s first half goal but the match was a stale affair with both teams unwilling or unable to find any FA cup passion.
To compound Plymouth’s misery, Wolves then drew either Manchester United or Burton Albion at home in the 4th round.
Plymouth chairman Paul Stapleton was later to bemoan the fact that his club missed out on a money spinning 4th round tie: ‘Had we played Wolves in a replay and beaten them and then drawn Manchester United at home on Sky TV we could have earned around £750,000.’

Meanwhile Plymouth manager Tony Pulis is working hard behind the scenes to bring new players in before the transfer window closes on January 31st, Pulis though will not be naming his targets: ‘ I haven’t come out with any names because I like to go about my business very quietly. I don’t like to let people know what’s happening’.
One target for Pulis could be Swindon Town’s Rory Fallon who was linked to Plymouth last week and it still being strongly tipped to join the Pilgrims. Carlisle United’s Karl Hawley is another striker on Plymouth’s shopping list as they bid to add firepower to their forward line. The 24 year old has scored 14 goals this season and is being tipped to move to a higher division during this transfer window.

One player going out of the club is 20 year old reserve midfielder Marcus Martin who is joining ambitious local non-league side Truro City. Another player who could be leaving soon is Icelandic midfielder Bjarni Gudjonsson who is having a few days trial at Belgium club Lokeren who play in the Belgium Premier League.
Gudjonsson has fallen out of favour with Pulis and has not been involved with the first team squad since October last year.

Plymouth now look ahead to their home game against Norwich City this Saturday when they get back to the important business of picking up league points.
On loan defender Elliott Ward will return to the team after missing the FA cup game against Wolves because his parent club West Ham United did not want him cup-tied. Also returning will be in-form striker Nick Chadwick who has missed recent games due to an hamstring injury.
Argyle will also use the Norwich game to launch JAGS ( Junior Argyle Green Supporters ) a scheme for fans aged under 16 to join and receive certain benefits and discounts.
