Plymouth Argyle are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by goalkeeper Remi Matthews in the one nil victory over Bradford City at the weekend at Valley Parade was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Matthews was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Plymouth Argyle moved off the bottom of the Sky Bet League One table with a fine 1-0 away win at Bradford City. Keeper Remi Matthews excelled throughout and superbly saved a second-half Tony McMahon penalty as the Pilgrims made it five league games unbeaten.’

Manager Derek Adams was also selected as manager of the Team of the Week following the performance.

‘Derek Adams led his Plymouth Argyle side to the EFL Result of the Day in their win at third-placed Bradford City. Executing the game plan to perfection, Adams’ side took all three points through a well-worked Jake Jervis goal and a terrific all-round team effort.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to both for their recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.
