Plymouth Argyle fans want midfielder Nadjim Abdou to play as an emergency right-back in Saturday’s game against Watford.
Regular right-back Paul Connolly is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season in the game against Bristol City last Saturday, leaving the Pilgrims without a recognised right-back.
The latest poll on Plymouth Vital asked the Argyle fans what player should replace Connolly in the match against Watford at Vicarage Road and 46% of fans wanted ‘Jimmy’ Abdou to slot in on the right side of defence.
The 23-year old French midfielder has played at right-back for his previous clubs but hasn’t yet played in that position for Argyle.
Moving Abdou to right-back could cause a problem for Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock because midfield veteran Lilian Nalis is also suspended and will miss the Watford game. Will Sturrock field a side against Championship leaders Watford without both of his regular central midfielders?
Centre-back Mat Doumbe was voted as second choice to play at right-back picking up 26% of the poll.
With the suspension of Connolly it highlights the need for Sturrock to find another right-back to add to his squad when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Who Should Replace Connolly Against Watford poll results:
1st: Nadjim Abdou – 46% of the vote.
2nd: Mat Doumbe – 26%.
3rd: Dan Gosling – 12%
4th: Lee Hodges – 10%.
=5th: David Norris – 3%.
=5th: Marcel Seip – 3%.
