Plymouth Argyle have completed the signings of Hungarian duo Peter Halmosi and Krisztian Timar.

Both players have been on-loan at Home Park since January and have made a good impression.
Halmosi has made 19 appearances in midfield for the Pilgrims, scoring 4 goals while centre back Timar (pictured above) has notched up 11 games and has scored once. Argyle had agreed a preliminary deal in January to buy both players and have now exercised that option.

Argyle paid Halmosi’s Hungarian club Debrecen £400,000 which breaks the record for the highest transfer fee paid out by the Pilgrims. The previous record was £300,000, jointly held by Peter Swan and Rory Fallon who joined Argyle in January.
Halmosi put pen to paper on a 3-year contract.

Timar was signed from Ferencvaros in Hungary for £75,000 and agreed a 2-year deal.

Meanwhile long-serving utility player Lee Hodges has signed a new one-year contract after his current deal was about to end.
The 33-year old has won two Championship medals with Argyle, making 192 appearances in two spells with the Pilgrims.
During his time with Argyle Hodges has played as a striker, at left back and right back, in centre and left midfield and has also been named as a substitute keeper.

Great news. The board have put their hands in their pockets and signed two players who have shown ability at this level. Even at £400k Halmosi is a bargain and the sheer size of Timar is worth having in the squad for £75k.

Just hope the board are going to invest similar sums of money for a couple of other gaps in the squad.
