Plymouth Argyle have been drawn to play League One side Doncaster Rovers at home in the Second Round of the Carling Cup.

The match is likely to take place on Tuesday 28th August with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Argyle eased past League Two side Wycombe Wanderers with a 2-1 win on Tuesday evening to book a place in the Second Round. Doncaster thumped Lincoln City 4-1 to earn the draw against Argyle.

Argyle were placed in the draw as a seeded club based on last season’s league performance, so the Pilgrims would never be drawn against a Premiership side.

Argyle are likely to announce reduced admission prices for the Doncaster game, just as the club did for the Wycombe game.

Ian Holloway’s side now have a real opportunity to progress to the next round and earn a plum home tie against a Premiership club.

Meanwhile Doncaster are likely to be frustrated with the draw and the long distance they are being asked to travel for a mid-week game.

That will not be an easy game. Rovers have spent a lot of money in recent times and have shown they can compete with higher division teams in this competition before.

We underestimate our visiting teams and regret it. Not going to assume we win this before a ball is kicked.
