Argyle’s Incredible Away Support

Just under 17,000 Plymouth Argyle fans followed the team on the road last season.

An incredible 16,766 members of the Green Army travelled 10,908 miles to the far flung corners of the UK to watch the Greens in action last season. That’s an average of 729 fans at each away league game.

Argyle had the third highest travelling support in League Two with Port Vale the highest with an average of 910 fans at each away game while Bradford City averaged 875 fans for their away games.

When you consider the long distances the Argyle fans have to travel and the team rooted near the bottom of the league for much of the season it’s an incredible achievement to take so many fans to away games.

Of Argyle’s 23 away games five attracted 1,000 plus crowds with 1,852 (official figure) against Rochdale the highest followed by 1,514 for the short trip to Torquay.
Argyle’s lowest away following was 195 for the long trip to Bradford.
The away support dipped below 500 just nine times.
The overall average away support in League Two is 435.

Argyle’s average away support for season 2011-2012 in League Two was 749 while we averaged 637 fans at each away game for season 2010-2011 in League One.
