Two of the division’s top strikers go head-to-head today with James Beattie and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake looking to continue their climb up the Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Coca-Cola Championship.

Beattie has been a revelation for Sheffield United this season, scoring 11 league goals since his move from Everton in the summer, while former Manchester United youngster Ebanks-Blake has helped Argyle to within touching distance of the play-off places.

His six league goals have come from 14 shots on target while Beattie has been prolific, his tally achieved from 18 on target.

The former Southampton ace has the edge, sitting in eighth place overall with an impressive 246 points up against his rival’s 207 points and 24th place.

Beattie’s success in front of goal lies in the fact he isn’t afraid to try his luck, firing off target a Championship-leading 24 times for a frontman.

Ebanks-Blake has the edge over his rival with nine interceptions to Beattie’s four, making one extra dribble (8) than his opponent.

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player`s contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, assists, clean sheets, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards.

The Sheffield United game brings to an end a tough week for the Pilgrims.
Manager Ian Holloway suddenly left Argyle and joined Leicester City and assistant manager Tim Breacker will be in charge of the team for the match at Bramall Lane.

Bryan Robson’s side have lost just one game at home all season when Southampton were the victors in September but a win for Argyle could see the Pilgrims move back into a play-off spot in the Championship.

The Actim Index is the official player ratings system of the Barclays Premier League and Coca-Cola Championship, which has been statistically proven to identify the best players. It is compiled and distributed by PA Sport.

The list of the Top 100 players and Top 5 players by position are available free of charge from the Actim website: www.pa-sport.com
