Who has been Plymouth Argyle’s best loan signing this season?

The Pilgrims’ have taken a total of 13 players on-loan this season with two of those making a permanent switch to Home Park after their loan deal had expired.

Eleven players have been borrowed from teams in a higher league than Argyle: One from the Premier League, eight from the Championship and two from League One.
There was also one player on-loan from a League Two club and one from the Conference league.

Who has been the best loan signing this season?

Winger Will Atkinson joined Argyle on a season-long loan but was recalled by Hull City in January. Atkinson scored four goals in 25 games.

Paul Bignot joined Argyle from Blackpool in November and has so far made 16 appearances but has recently fallen out of favour.

Nick Chadwick returned to Home Park in a loan deal from Stockport County in November. The striker scored three goals in five games as a loan player before making the switch permanent.

Bournemouth legend Steve Fletcher made an emergency loan move to Home Park in March and has so far made three substitute appearances.

Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson started the season at Argyle and made 16 appearances before returning to his parent club.

Young Ipswich Town midfielder Jamie Griffiths played in nine games earlier this season.

Wolves winger Ashley Hemmings joined Argyle in November and has so far scored two goals in 21 games.

Young Blackburn striker Tom Hitchcock arrived on the eve of the season and made 10 appearances before his loan deal was terminated.

Simon King arrived from Gillingham in September for a month. The centre-back made six appearances.

Striker Alex MacDonald has scored four goals in 14 games after moving to Argyle from Burnley in January until the end of the season.

Big centre-back Darren Purse arrived from Millwall in November in what was an initial loan deal that eventually turned into a permanent signing. Purse made three appearances as a loan player.

Craig Sutherland moved from Blackpool to Argyle in November for two months, the striker played in nine games

Striker Juvhel Tsoumou signed on transfer deadline day from Preston until the end of the season, the striker has scored one goal in 10 games.
