Plymouth Argyle striker Jamie Mackie has been linked with a move to Championship rivals Middlesbrough.

Sky Sports have reported that Boro boss Gordon Strachan is on the trail of Mackie along with new Burnley manager Brian Laws.

Nottingham Forest and Derby County have also shown an interest with Forest ready to bid £2 million for the striker, according to recent reports.

Mackie was snapped up from Exeter City for £145,000 in January 2008. The 24-year old, who can also play as a winger, has notched up 12 goals from 81 appearances for Paul Mariner’s side.

What are the options, sell now and get the money, or keep him until the end of the season and he moves on for nought. It is the worst of 2 evils, because he will not resign for Argyle, so we have to take the money. The sad thing is that Argyle will then use the money to finance the club and not re-invest in a decent striker.

I can’t believe the amount of top clubs chasing Mackie, I don’t get it. He has a poor first touch, his goal scoring record is poor, he just runs and runs but Forest Gump can do that!
