Former Plymouth Argyle striker Bradley Wright-Phillips is looking forward to his new career at Charlton Athletic.

The League One top scorer moved to the Valley on Monday for an undisclosed fee, believed to be as low as £125,000.

Argyle did agree a £300,000 fee with Championship side Reading but the striker failed a medical due to a knee injury.
With the Home Park club needing cash to fight a winding-up petition from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs any serious bid for Wright-Phillips would seal a transfer with Charlton winning the race for his signature.

Wright-Phillips, who has scored 13 goals this season, is now looking forward to playing for his new club, speaking to the Addicks official website he said: ‘I’m happy and excited. ‘I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds.
‘I spoke to the manager on the phone and he said everything I wanted to hear. I just want to score goals for Charlton. Wherever that takes us, it can only be a good thing. If I do my job, it can only help us.’

‘Charlton is close to home so I’ve had a lot of people asking me for tickets already!
‘The Valley’s a nice stadium. I was here on Saturday for the Plymouth game and there was a good atmosphere.
‘The knee feels good. I haven’t had any problems with it for a week or two. I’ve just got to do a bit of strengthening work with the physio and once I do that, I shouldn’t have any more problems.’

Wright-Phillips continued: ‘I had a few clubs after me, but some of them were a bit too far.
‘I’ve never played in London where I was born and I just wanted to give it a try. Charlton is a big club.’

Wright-Phillips is expected to make his Charlton debut on Saturday at Rochdale and will wear the number 10 shirt.

Good luck to the lad. Thought he might have made a small comment about his time at Argyle. Like us (hopefully), he’s looking to the future.
