Leicester City striker and former Plymouth Argyle hero Paul Gallagher returns to Home Park for the Championship game against the Foxes on Saturday.

Gallagher spent the whole of last season on-loan at Argyle from Blackburn Rovers and tomorrow will be the first time the Scottish striker has played at Home Park since returning to Ewood Park at the end of last season.

Gallagher’s 13 goals from 36 starting appearances almost single-handedly saved the Pilgrims from relegation to League One last season and his temporary move to Devon will surely rate as one of Argyle’s best ever loan deals.

Previous Argyle manager Paul Sturrock also used Gallagher as a left-winger but it was his performances as a striker that caught the eye, although his form did take a dip during January 2009 when there was some speculation that he would return to Blackburn.

There was also talk that Argyle would make a bid to sign Gallagher on a permanent transfer at the end of last season but the transfer fee and high wages were too much for the Home Park club.
However, Gallagher did return to the Championship when he signed for Leicester last summer for a fee believed to be around the £1 million mark.

The 24-year old has been used in a variety of positions for the Foxes but now looks to have settled into a striking role, with a recent hat-trick against Scunthorpe United highlighting his goal threat.

Welcome back, Paul!
