Crewe Alexandra manager Dario Gradi has urged Simon Walton to control his temper if he wants to keep his place in midfield.

The Plymouth Argyle midfielder is on a season-long loan to the League Two side and has made 22 appearances.
However, in the recent game against Rochdale in which Crewe were losing 2-0 Walton lost his temper and had a verbal war of words with several Rochdale players, this led to Gradi hauling off the 22-year old in the 64th minute.

The Crewe boss made it clear he wasn’t happy with Walton’s loss of concentration and poor behaviour, Gradi said: ‘Off the pitch there’s no air of superiority about Simon at all and he’s a down-to-earth guy. He’s done well on the pitch for me and he can make time for himself on the ball.
Rochdale was a big game and the bad start we had got the better of him.
‘But when he’s waving his arms about and shouting he is not concentrating on the game.
‘Whether he can conquer it or not we’ll have to see.’

Walton has a contract at Home Park until June 2012; Crewe is the ninth club of his short career.
