Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has rightly criticised Plymouth Argyle’s Home Park pitch following Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

Both sides had to contend with a poor playing surface that started to cut-up during the pre-match warm-up and deteriorated further as the match progressed.

The Home Park ground staff have had to struggle with shocking weather conditions since the turn of the year and have not been helped by a pitch that should have been replaced at least two seasons ago.

Pearson is the latest opposition manager to condemn the pitch, following the Championship game against Argyle on Saturday, he said: ‘The players are exceptionally tired playing on a cow field. It was difficult to get any sort of decent football going.
‘I thought we tried our best to manipulate the ball on a shocking surface on which we did well. Of course we are disappointed with the goal but it is a battling point.’

Pearson continued: ‘We showed some very good qualities in the second half in terms of sticking bodies in the way and Chris Weale made a brilliant save along the way so it is not a bad point.
‘It was the sort of game we would like to be winning but it was very difficult on an awful pitch.’
