Plymouth Argyle have signed Manchester United winger Lee Martin on an initial three-month loan deal.
The 20-year old Taunton-born player goes straight into the Pilgrims squad for Saturday’s Championship clash against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.
Martin last played for Manchester United ten days ago in the Carling Cup defeat against Coventry City before being substituted at half time.
Martin has had loan spells at Glasgow Rangers and Stoke City and at one time was hailed as the next David Beckham. The pacy wide-man has also spent time at United’s Belgian feeder club Royal Antwerp and despite only playing 17 games he was named as the Player of The Season.
Argyle boss Ian Holloway beat off competition from three other Championship clubs to land Martin, who is expected to be named among the substitutes for the Blackpool game.

Fantastic news! Welcome aboard the good ship Mayflower!
I agree, i think this is a good move. Hopefully he will be just as successfull as SS was for us.
If Martin is half as good as Sinclair then he will be a very good signing. Well done Ollie!
Excellent, we needed another goalkeeper
hopefully this will spur some others to up their game.
great news well done ollie and board, cant wait to see him play
Great news that he chose us over 3 other Championship clubs! I expect the Sinclair loan and the fact of SEB being here played a part in him coming here – but of course all credit goals to Ollie and everyone else behind the scenes!
C’mon Argyle!!
