Plymouth Argyle transfer target Dean Hammond is set to leave Brighton & Hove Albion and sign for Championship strugglers Colchester United.
The Brighton skipper has been linked with a move to Argyle by several newspapers but the Pilgrims now look set to miss out on the 24-year midfielder who is currently holding talks with Colchester.
Hammond has been made available for transfer because he has refused a new contract and can leave for nothing at the end of the season when his current deal runs out.
Colchester recently had a bid of £200,000 turned down by Brighton but have now returned with a new and improved offer that has been accepted by the League One club.
