Argyle Sons

Plymouth Argyle sons, the offspring of the coaching staff who have made the first-team, we’ve had a few in recent years.

It’s the break for international football, it’s a slow news day, so with that in mind who has been Argyle’s best son!
Let’s have a vote and find out!

Right-back Kenny Brown is the son of former Argyle manager Ken Brown. Brown junior signed for the Pilgrims in 1988 and went on to make 144 appearances in a three years spell before moving to West Ham United.

Anthony Pulis came from the loins of former Argyle boss Tony Pulis, who has this habit of playing young Anthony when other managers wouldn’t!
Anthony was on-loan at Home Park in 2006 and made five substitute appearances, the midfielder is now on-loan at League Two side Lincoln from parent club Southampton. How we miss his silky midfield skills.

Winger Sam Shilton is the son of guess who? Sam started his career at Argyle in 1994 but only played in four games in two years before a £125,000
(how much?) move to Coventry City.
Peter’s son is now at Bedworth United FC of the Southern League Division One Midlands.

Blair Sturrock is the son of current manager Paul Sturrock and has twice been signed by his old man, at Argyle and Swindon.
Blair, the king of the ‘keep the ball in the corner’ routine, moved to Home Park in 2001 and made 71 appearances over three years, with 60 coming from the bench.
Blair is now at Blue Square Premier League side Mansfield Town.

Luke Summerfield (pictured above) is the only current son at Argyle, although he’s on-loan at Leyton Orient and his dad, Kevin, left the coaching staff last month.
Summerfield junior seems to have been around for ever but is still only 21 and has played in 73 games over a five year period.

So who out of that lot who has been the best Argyle son?

Have your say and take part in our vote.
The poll can be reached on the Home and News pages.

Most fans won’t even know Kenny Brown, it was nearly 2 decades ago when he last graced our pitch; Sam Shilton didn’t do enough to be rememebred; as for Blair being the “keep the ball in the corner” king, I would dispute that – yes he took the ball into the corner and then immediately lost it, he may as well have put it out for a goal kick. Finally for young Luke Summerfield, he will always live in the shadow of his dad, showed potential but never delivered on a consistant basis. These may sound harsh words, but then the truth can sometimes hurt. Won’t bother to vote, but thanx for the opportunity.
