Plymouth Argyle transfer target Jermaine Easter could be about to sign on-loan for Bristol Rovers.

Argyle made two unsuccessful bids for the Wycombe Wanderers striker in August with the last offer of £350,000 falling short of what the League Two club expected for the Welsh international striker.

Easter wanted to play in a higher league and Argyle was his preferred choice of club.
However, the 26-year old hit-man, who was last season’s top scorer with 24 goals, has let the frustration of missing out on a move to Argyle affect his game.

Wycombe manager Paul Lambert has dropped Easter for the last six games, stating that the striker ‘wasn’t in the right frame of mind’ to play football following the collapse of his proposed move to Home Park.

Bristol Rovers have now declared an interest in signing Easter on-loan but will only get their man if they agree to buy the player in January.

Cheltenham Town have also targeted Easter on-loan but were knocked back when the Chairboys insisted that a transfer fee must be agreed first, caretaker boss Keith Downing admitted that he had a loan bid turned down, he said: ‘Wycombe are not prepared to let him leave without a club committing to buy him in January.’

If Bristol Rovers can agree a fee with Wycombe then Easter will initially join the League One club on-loan and sign a permanent deal in January.
