Argyle v Norwich

Plymouth Argyle will hope to bounce back to winnings ways against struggling Norwich City at Home Park on Saturday.

The Pilgrims were defeated 2-1 at home last week by Sheffield Wednesday but should pick up the three points against the Canaries on Saturday.

It could also be the last chance for Argyle fans to see midfielder David Norris in a green shirt. Southampton have again been linked with a move for the 26-year old former Bolton player and with a two-week break for the international matches coming up then it’s possible that Norris could complete a loan move to the Saints during that period of inactivity.

Norwich have picked up just one away point from seven games this season, scoring two goals and conceding eleven and are currently bottom of the Championship. The last win for Norwich was September 15th when they beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at home and have picked up just two points from ten games since then.

Peter Grant was sacked last month with former Newcastle United boss Glenn Roeder taking over at Carrow Road.

So the scene is set for Argyle to coast to a thumping win, but football isn’t like that and Ian Holloway’s side will have to be on their guard against a team fighting for their lives.

A win for the Pilgrims could see them move back into a play-off place and sit back and relax during the two-week international break. In fact the Norwich game is the first of six home games before the end of 2007 with just four games being away from Home Park, so there’s a real chance for Argyle to improve on their play-off credentials before we say hello to 2008.

Holloway has a fitness doubt over striker Barry Hayles who is nursing a sore neck, Rory Fallon stands-by for a rare first team start. Keeper Romain Larrieu is expected to keep his place between the sticks while Peter Halmosi will return on the left side of midfield.

Argyle: (from): Larrieu, Connolly, Timar, Seip, Hodges, Martin, Norris, Nalis, Halmosi, Ebanks-Blake, Hayles, McCormick, Doumbe, Gosling, Abdou, Fallon, Easter.

New Norwich boss Glenn Roeder has selection problems ahead of the game against Argyle. Striker John Hartson has been sent back to West Bromwich Albion after having his one-month loan spell cut short. Hartson would still have been eligible for the Argyle game but Roeder decided otherwise.

Darren Huckerby is suspended for two more games after his red card against Ipswich, and with Gary Doherty, Mark Fotheringham and Adam Drury all long-term absentees the Norwich squad is stretched.
Winger Luke Chadwick is rated 50-50 for the game after picking up a hamstring injury in the mid-week game against Watford, while Dion Dublin is unlikely to be fit because of the same problem, but may still travel.

Norwich: (from): Marshall, Otsemobor, Shackell, Taylor, Lappin, Chadwick, Croft, Brellier, Russell, Dublin, Cureton, Smith, Gilks, Murray, Jarvis, Brown.
