Plymouth Argyle defender Tony Capaldi believes the Pilgrims have an excellent chance of beating Watford and progressing to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Capaldi is just 48 hours away from the biggest game of his club career if he gets the nod from manager Ian Holloway to play in the quarter-final game. The Northern Ireland international has been left out of the side in recent weeks but returned for the mid-week draw at Sheffield Wednesday.
Capaldi hopes to be involved in the game on Sunday and to help his team beat Watford, he said: ‘I think we have a great chance of getting through. If we were away from home then Watford would be big favourites, but I think the fact that it is at our ground levels it out.
‘One or two of the lads have said that they have been thinking about the semi-finals.
‘If we were to get through there could be Manchester United or Chelsea in there.
‘It would be a Premiership club anyway because we’re the only club outside the Premiership left in the competition and it would be a massive game.’
Capaldi continued: ‘We drew twice with Watford last season and the year before we won our home game and they won theirs, so there wasn’t to much between the teams.’
‘They have had six months of Premiership experience, but I think their confidence will be low and we’ll be well up for it.
‘The whole town is buzzing in anticipation of Sunday and I expect the crowd will play their part.
‘Watford are quite a direct side and we’ll be prepared to face that. I expect it will be a bit of a battle and that will suit us alright.’
Capaldi is the only Northern Ireland international left in the FA Cup.
