Crewe Alexandra are expected to renew their interest in Plymouth Argyle striker Nick Chadwick during the January transfer window.

The League One outfit have twice tried to sign the former Everton hitman but were put off by a £250,000 price tag last summer and looked to have signed Chadwick on-loan in October but the striker needed a hernia operation and the move was cancelled.

Chadwick, 25, was signed by former Argyle boss Bobby Williamson in 2005 for a £250,000 fee but has struggled with injuries during his time at Home Park.
However, the willing striker played a crucial role for the Pilgrims under Tony Pulis in 2006, playing just in front of the midfield and helping Argyle to easily avoid relegation.

Sources at Crewe indicate that a fee in the region of £80,000 to £100,000 could be offered for Chadwick who is out of contract in June.

The Stoke-born player is now back to full fitness and recently figured in the Argyle first-team, in total Chadwick has made 82 appearances for the Pilgrims, scoring 11 goals.

Chadwick is a hardworking player who always gives 100% but he’s injury prone. £100,000 would be good business for Argyle and would pay for the Exeter striker Jamie Mackie.
