Holloway Fury With Southampton

Plymouth Argyle manager Ian Holloway has spoken out at the transfer speculation surrounding midfielder David Norris and the ‘two ridiculous offers’ from Southampton.

Yesterday two national newspapers, The Sun and The Mirror, reported that the Pilgrims had agreed a £1 million transfer fee with Southampton for the sale of 26-year old Norris.

But today Holloway has spoken to The Mirror and has hit back and told Saints boss George Burley to ‘p**s off’.

A furious Holloway said: ‘Why would I sell Norris and why would I sell him to a club like Southampton? They strut around as if they are a big club, but they ain’t.

Southampton have come in twice now for Norris and I’ve them to p**s off both times. They won’t be coming back, I can promise you.

Like so many they think we are just little Plymouth.’

However, Plymouth Vital believes that the comments attributed to Holloway are a week old and not in direct relation to yesterday’s story that Argyle and the Saints had agreed a fee for Norris.

It’s reassuring to hear that Ollie still has no intension of selling his best assets, particularly to another Championship club. Roll on 01-09-07 when the transfer window closes, so that are players no longer get distracted from the job in hand, with silly transfer rumours. I am sure that Ollie would sell any player who’s not happy at HP, but that does not appear to be the case; loyalty in general breeds loyalty. Money is why we all go to work, but job satisfaction and a good friendly environment is just as, if not more important; and I quote Doddy, “Happiness, happiness the greatest gift I possess”; apart from fiddling the tax man. So Argyle, keep on smiling and the fans will keep on singing.

I can see this being a war of words between Ian Holloway and George Burley. I know which of the two is better at handling the media…

I wish Hollohead would keep his mouth shut or at least engage his brain before speaking to the press. His comments doesn’t reflect well on PAFC, once again. He’s a liability.

How do you mean dont reflect well? Telling them to get lost/p*** off is exactly what we needed to get into the press. Especially with the reported figure being £1m. This showing other teams that we are not little plymouth as well as sending a message to Southampton that they can not lure people like they used to, with premership label.

Could turn into a tasty encounter on the pitch in the future if these guys don’t take a few deep breaths and get real!
