Holloway Set To Quit Argyle?

Plymouth Argyle manager Ian Holloway could be on the verge of leaving Home Park.

A national Sunday newspaper has made an extraordinary claim that Holloway has grown disillusioned with life at the Pilgrims and could be set to quit.

A source at Home Park has revealed to the newspaper that Holloway feels that the board of directors lack ambition in the transfer market.
The source said: ‘Ollie is committed to the club but is feeling let down by the board as they are not backing him in the transfer market.
‘The club is exploiting his loyalty and he has become disillusioned.’

The former Queens Park Rangers manager has been linked to the vacant managerial position at Leicester City and this latest story could be an attempt to unsettle Holloway.

The Home Park source goes on to say: ‘The squad is stretched at the moment and needs investment. If the club doesn’t back him it looks like Ollie could be on his way out.’

The counter-argument to the newspaper story is that Holloway knew when he first got the Argyle job that there would be tight financial restraints at Home Park. Even so, Holloway has broken the club transfer record twice in the last year with the signings of Rory Fallon and Peter Halmosi and just two weeks ago Holloway signed striker Jermaine Easter on-loan with a view to a £210,000 transfer in January.

Will Holloway leave Argyle? Is this just wild speculation or a story near to the truth?

Holloway has been moaning a lot lately but he has just moved into a new house. I reckon he will stay.

  • dawks says:

No chance of him leaving this season at all, ridiculous claim. 100% certain he will be here throughout.
Doing a great job as well !

  • Matt_Us says:

That is a load of rubbish made up just to scare you as you are doing so well. Olie will stay. End of!

  • Snafubar says:

He’s already stated that he has no intention of quitting, and if he did, it would have to be a club that was closer to him than Argyle. Bristol Rovers, maybe, if they got into Europe.

  • plymbuzz says:

Fantastic news! When he is going? We can then get a manager who knows about tactics and promotes the club and not himself.

  • dazza71 says:

I would be a great loss if he was to leave you. When was the last time this far into a season you was this high?
I do like to listen to his after match comments and he would be a loss to the game if he decided to leave.

    Bull*****!

  • norris says:

This is nonense! The newspaper has something against Holloway and Argyle. Just two weeks ago it published another similar story where a supposed insider at the club said that Holloway was unhappy. Someone is determined to undermine Holloway.

  • Demport says:

The News of the World says that Holloway is on the short list for the Leicester job.

  • isondil says:

It usuall Sunday Paper **** why have we got the clear rubbish on ou website? Ollie is keen on the plymouth cause. He wont be interested in other jobs especialy after anouncing when he want to retire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WDGreen says:

I have become a regular reader of this site with the occassional input, but of recent there’s been nothing worth reading or commenting on. After several very good match reports, there as been nothing of substance; so what do we get a couple of bits of scaremongering that previously would have been ignored and labelled gutter press. Is there someone, within the club, trying to scare the fans back onto the terraces with stupid rumours, and Vital…… are aiding and abetting them; WELL STOP IT, because it will do more harm than good.

  • rogthedog says:

Agreed WDGreen! Pulis told Holloway what the board was like before he accepted the job. And there’s no way they’ve given him any less backing than anyone else. This is a ludicrous story for Vital to be leading with.

  • Paul-Williams says:

Relax guys, I have just brought to your attention a newspaper article. I did say it’s an extraordinary claim and gave examples of the board backing Holloway in the transfer market which is the exact opposite to what the newspaper reported.

  • StevieG Col U says:

Would be a shock if he went but football is a funny old game…..

  • Cornish Dave says:

The only thing I’ve seen that is extraordinary today is that 12% think Geoff Crudgington was the best keeper over the last 25 years!!

  • Bitter & Twisted says:

…… But on a serious note there will be ploite enquiries to the club if he Ollie continues to improve the team. What will happen when that day comes?

  • Snafubar says:

It is good that we are doing this well that people are taking notice.

  • miked_joker says:

If anyone has read Ollies book he managed QPR on far worse financial conditions. So I find this hard to believe.

  • will it ever happen says:

Surley this cannot be true, he is a great manager and would be a big loss for you.
