Norris Saga Deepens

The David Norris ‘will he,won’t he’ saga deepened today with the Pilgrims breaking their silence for the first time.

A statement made on the official site states ‘ARGYLE can confirm that they have received a written request for a transfer from midfielder David Norris.

After due consideration, the request has been refused by the club.’

As reported previously Norris handed in a transfer request on Friday, this was refused verbally yesterday and in writing today.

It is thought that the club are holding out for a higher fee for the want away midfielder who is held in the highest regard by Argyle fans. Because of the 50% sell of clause in David’s contract it is understood that the board are looking for a fee of around £2.5 million for the versatile workhorse after negotiations with Bolton to reduce the percentage proved fruitless.

More updates to this story will follow as the story unfolds.

To be honest I wish it was over with now. It’s dragging on and on.

I agree plimuff. Get it over with. I’d like him to stay but if he does, he won’t perform for us if his heart is somewhere else. [Edited by passionate]

If it was a Premiership club that was after him then I would think fair enough and sell him but why the hell we should sell a player to another Championship club when we know we will get good value out of him for the future is beyond me, and the Board as well by the looks of things. Stay and honour your contract Chuck.

Love for him to stay but if he wants to go, get a good price and get someone else who can do a job in. The worry for me is that if he goes I think we’ll lose a few others during the summer (siep, halmosi etc) and then we’ll be back to fighting off relegation rather than flirting with the play offs.

Frankly, I’m amazed no-one is coming in for Halmosi yet. He creates almost all of our goals, and is probably Holloway’s best achievement for Argyle. £400k was a steal for a player of his quality.

Norris is a good player and i am glad he did not go the Scummers, although IH was talking it up about him joining them. Wigan will sign Halmosi ive heard.
